‘Street photography’ is documentary photography in public places. Some of the so-called founding fathers of photography made their name by just taking pictures of everyday life and people. In the 21st Century street photography is more difficult – you can no longer take a picture of most people without them wanting to know exactly when it will be on facebook and how they ‘un-tag’ themselves.
One of the negatives of professional SLRs is that they are large, and quite visible, so it’s only on a very rare occasion that I find myself doing any street photography. The following image was shot whilst I was in the middle of a engagement couple-shoot at Somerset House in London.
